Gilead Enterprises, Inc. (Gilead) was formed in 2002 to provide innovative products to provide spiritual and emotional support for individuals dealing with stressful life situations.
Located in northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the company was birthed when the Ephrata Community Hospital commissioned its Mind, Body and Spirit task force to create a guided imagery program for patients.
The Rev. Donna L. Shenk, hospital chaplain, along with a medical doctor, psychologist and Robert Miller ND, a Naturopathic health consultant developed and tested the CD-based guided imagery product during 2001 and 2002.
The reception was so overwhelmingly positive from the medical community, that Miller and others incorporated to mass produce and market the Tranquilities Series in order to make this unique stress reduction program available to hospitals, health care providers and the general public. The Tranquilities product stands apart from other guided imagery programs in that it utilizes both a male and female voice, ancient wisdom, aromatherapy, and if the user desires, utilization of the individuals faith in addressing their unique stress situation.
Stress Management is now recognized as an integral part of standard care, and is being covered by an increasing number of insurance company's health coverage.
